Chauncey T. Maggiacomo Jr. (born November 30, 1947) known as "Jocko" or, in high school, as "Chant," was a racing car driver from Poughkeepsie, New York. Racers wore cotton suits and Italian drivers often sported nice short-sleeved polo shirts. Everyone involved in the disaster recovered, and the rescuer, a guy named Jocko Maggiacomo who also had The track opened on June 2, 1948, as a flat, one-fifth mile dirt oval featuring Midget racing. The Modifieds replaced Midgets as the premier racing feature at Riverside in the 1950s, giving rise to The late Chauncey "Jocko" Maggiacomo won the first race he started, driving a motorcycle in Milbrook, NY, in 1931. In 1937, he drove his first midget, then switched to stock cars when he returned from serving in World War II. Jocko was so successful that in 1948, his first year back to racing, he won over $13,000.
